The passion for our skills…overpowers our other life. Most of us know what it takes to become a Ninja, from where we started in the game of “Know Your Enemy”, to the enemies that made their way into our Ninja World. As a result, we find our self to be the greatest Ninja in the world. And, from other experiences, we all know that “Know your self” is a fundamental to success in any aspect of life. In just about every story I hear, it ends with, “my friends caused their own problems.” And, the kicker: they were trying to help the person. It all started after my brother said, “the things that piss me off is when someone is trying to help me and I let them.” Yes, somebody was helping him and it seemed like nothing was changing. All of these things went through my mind and realized that a lot of the most successful people I work with are not only nice and helpful, but they work to get what they want, too. This all started after one of the biggest wake-up calls of my life: I moved to Cape Town, South Africa. In the past, I was looking to make a difference in the lives of people where I live. But, from what I saw, people are not only as sick or hungry as ever, they also still cannot find their true passion on this planet and have not been able to fulfill their true potential. After settling into my life in Cape Town, I started working with people who were addicted to pornography. I sat with a mom who watched her son suffer while she was addicted. He was a teenager who was nearly getting his high school diploma in information technology, and he could barely read

, Elf God, Orzel, VideoGameDungeons & Dragons, Video Games, RPGs and other geeky things Oct 03, 2012 Looking back at Redemption When I mentioned a few days ago that Gencon’s Board Game Night in a Grog was a good time, a couple of positive comments came in. One was that the event was less crowded than at last year’s and, the other was that it was simpler. Well, here is why that simple event was a good change for all, players and non-players alike. The main reason for the crowd was the introduction of the Redemption event; we got it right there that we got event space in the Grog and gamers could get their games in there (event space – Gamers’ Grog). I don’t know if this particular show was run as an intro to Redemption, but whatever. It was very obvious. If you wanted to play a board game, Redemption was the most likeable place to play it. The downside is that only the designers and really experienced geeks knew what the Redemption awards looked like. The other downside was the event space was very limited and didn’t include ‘workshop space’, which was a real deal breaker for some of the gamers. I mean, how would you get a board game printed and set up for an exhibition like that? And that was an event where every session was about 2 hours – how many people have that much time a week, or a month, to come up with and print at home and stack up at the convention? That is what I mean by more likeablespace, maybe. That way, it was obvious this was the event for any geek gamer, not just a few geek gamers who wanted to talk board games in the Grog, who wanted to blow off steam. But it had to work for them too. Even in Gencon’s most obvious ‘games to play’ play area, like the dragon ride, or the space where the more experienced geeks did 3 to 5 person games, it’s a bit of a conundrum for the younger gamers. There were a handful of well-run events where the younger kids could play games; but how do you attract the 4 and 5 year olds to play with you and learn from what you are doing? They are not very likely to want to pick up a fantasy board game, let alone a monster board game. In order to play board games, you have to have simple 2 hour games. Any board
